With 2023 heralding new and significant advances in AI, the use of data, the possibilities of blockchain, and a new immersive web with virtual reality, augmented reality and metaverse like experiences, there is also an increase in talk around regulation, and new laws to control and counter any threats. Scams and misuse of IP is also as prevalent as ever. One of our aims at FAST is to strengthen the rights of Software owners. As part of that vision we are making new steps to get in front of parliamentarians, influencers and policy makers to help our members have a say in new initiatives and potential regulation. Our latest move is to join the Parliamentary Internet, Communications and Technology Forum (PICTFOR), which is the largest and most active All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).
The PICTFOR group operates in the Houses of Parliament bringing together MPs and Members of the House of Lords from all parties with key players in the internet, communications and technology sectors to engage with the most pressing issues of today and tomorrow. We are delighted to be involved along with such a great cross section of the technology and telecoms sector.
David Terrar, new CEO of FAST said “we are looking forward to adding our members views and issues to the conversation around digital initiatives, potential regulation, and policies that will help IP owners”.
